The Laser Resurfacing Procedure
Laser resurfacing treatments are typically performed using either topical or local anesthesia, depending on the treatment area and the depth of the laser. It’s a great treatment option to add-on while you are already under anesthesia in the OR. The procedure involves passing a laser device over the targeted skin, delivering energy to gently remove damaged outer layers and stimulate collagen beneath the surface. Depending on the type and intensity of the laser used, treatment time may range from 30 minutes to one hour. After the procedure, we will provide detailed aftercare instructions to support your recovery.
Recovery & Results for Laser Resurfacing
Following laser resurfacing, you may experience redness, swelling, and peeling similar to a mild sunburn. These effects typically resolve within five to ten days, depending on the depth of the treatment. It is essential to follow your customized aftercare routine, which may include gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection. Most patients can return to normal activities within a week, although complete skin healing continues over several weeks.
As your skin heals, you will notice improved texture, more even tone, and a refreshed overall appearance. Fine lines, discoloration, and surface imperfections will be visibly reduced, and your skin will feel firmer and more radiant. With proper skincare and sun protection, the results of laser resurfacing can last for several years, making it an ideal choice for long-term skin rejuvenation.

Contact UsWhat is Laser Resurfacing?
Laser resurfacing is a non-surgical treatment that uses focused laser energy to improve the texture and appearance of the skin. The procedure works by removing damaged outer layers of skin while stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers. At Maffi Plastic Surgery, we use advanced laser technology to target fine lines, wrinkles, sunspots, enlarged pores, and other imperfections with precision, leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. As your skin heals, it reveals a brighter and more youthful complexion.
Candidates for Laser Resurfacing
You may be an ideal candidate for laser resurfacing if you have uneven skin tone, textural irregularities, acne scars, or signs of aging such as fine lines around the eyes or mouth. It is also a beneficial option for patients seeking to enhance skin quality and minimize sun damage without the downtime associated with surgery. During your consultation at our Scottsdale office, we will assess your skin type, concerns, and goals to determine if laser resurfacing is the right treatment for you.
