The Brachioplasty Procedure
Brachioplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Maffi begins by making an incision along the inside or back of the arm, which may extend from the underarm to the elbow, depending on the amount of skin to be removed. Excess skin is trimmed away, underlying tissues are tightened, and liposuction may be used to remove localized fat deposits. The incision is then closed carefully to minimize scarring. The procedure typically takes between two and three hours, depending on the extent of the correction required. Patients are monitored after surgery and return home the same day with their caregiver.
Recovery & Results
After arm lift surgery, patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medications. A compression garment is often recommended to help support the arms during healing and reduce swelling. Most patients are able to return to light activities within a week and can resume more strenuous activities after four to six weeks. Dr. Maffi and the team at Maffi Plastic Surgery will provide detailed aftercare instructions and support you throughout the recovery process to ensure optimal results.
Brachioplasty provides long-lasting results, resulting in a more sculpted and toned appearance of the arms. Scarring will fade over time, and maintaining a stable weight will help preserve your results for years to come.
