The Abdominoplasty Procedure
Abdominoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Maffi makes a low horizontal incision in the lower abdomen, allowing the scar to be easily concealed by clothing. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the abdominal muscles are tightened to restore your core. In some cases, liposuction is combined with abdominoplasty to enhance the results further. The procedure typically takes two to four hours, depending on the extent of the correction required. Patients are monitored postoperatively and can return home the same day under the care of a responsible adult.
Recovery & Results for Abdominoplasty
Following a tummy tuck, it is normal to experience swelling, bruising, and some discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed pain medication. A compression garment is recommended to support healing, reduce swelling, and help shape the abdomen during the recovery process. Most patients can return to light activities within two weeks and gradually resume more strenuous activities over the course of six to eight weeks. Dr. Maffi and the team at Maffi Plastic Surgery will provide detailed postoperative instructions and support to ensure a smooth and safe recovery process.
Abdominoplasty provides long-lasting improvements in your abdominal contours. Your surgical scars will fade over time. It is important that you maintain a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle to preserve your results for many years.

Candidates for Abdominoplasty Surgery

Ideal candidates are in good overall health, at a stable weight, and have realistic expectations for surgery. Ideal candidates include women who have finished having children, since their results are more reliable in the long term.
