The Lower Blepharoplasty Procedure
Lower eyelid surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Maffi creates a small incision just beneath the lower lash line. Through this incision, he carefully removes or repositions fat to reduce puffiness and smooth contour irregularities. If necessary, he also trims or tightens excess skin to achieve a firmer and more youthful appearance. The procedure takes about one to two hours and is performed on an outpatient basis.
Recovery & Results from Lower Blepharoplasty
Swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are common in the first few days following surgery. Most patients resume normal activities within seven to ten days, though residual swelling may take a few weeks to fully resolve. Cold compresses, head elevation, and post-operative care instructions will help support your healing process. Dr. Maffi and our surgical team will monitor your progress and ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
Lower blepharoplasty creates a more youthful under-eye area by reducing puffiness and tightening loose skin. Patients often appear more awake and refreshed after surgery. Lower eye surgery results are long-lasting when supported by medical-grade skincare treatment and products, sun protection, and a healthy lifestyle.

Contact UsWhat is Lower Blepharoplasty?
Lower blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure that targets the area beneath the eyes to remove or reposition fat, remove excess skin, and reduce puffiness. As we age, fat deposits can shift and skin can lose elasticity, leading to the appearance of under-eye bags and shadows. At Maffi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Maffi uses advanced techniques to smooth the under-eye area while avoiding a hollow or overcorrected look. The result is a more rested, youthful appearance that looks natural.
Candidates for Lower Blepharoplasty
You may be a good candidate for lower blepharoplasty if you have persistent under-eye bags, loose or crepey lower eyelid skin, or a tired expression that does not match how you feel. Candidates should be in good health, nonsmokers, and have realistic expectations about the outcome. During your consultation at our Scottsdale office, Dr. Maffi will evaluate your eyelid anatomy and facial structure to determine if lower eyelid surgery aligns with your aesthetic goals.
